I’ve worked in excavation since 1986 — including two decades in the oil field, clocking 80 to 100 hours a week, constantly on the road and away from my loved ones. In March 2023, I transitioned into a civil manager role with a major corporation, finally working back in my home state. But even then, the long hours continued to steal moments from my family, especially my kids and grandkids.

Then everything changed on April 3, 2025. The 9-to-5 grind ended, the steady paycheck stopped, and what could’ve felt like a crisis turned out to be one of the biggest blessings of my life.
